Working with individuals and couples, young adults and older, I specialize in working with clients to address the impact of life transitions, relationship issues, trauma & PTSD, career challenges and the unique aspects of college mental health. As research continues to expand our knowledge of mental health leading to new treatments, I continually pursue new ideas to bring to my practice.

I am committed to helping you gain the insight and tools that will empower you to live the life you desire.

My goal is to build a counseling relationship in which you feel fully supported and enabled to affect positive change through a greater understanding of your feelings, emotions, behaviors and choices. I believe in the counseling process and that change is a journey, not a destination.

I am Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Connecticut and a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC).

I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Fairfield University, and a BS from the Boston College Carroll School of Management. Prior to becoming a counselor, I gained valuable experience working with clients and colleagues across numerous industries and geographies in my role within Financial Services; experience that provides significant insights to my work.

I encourage you to reach out to explore working together and to allow me to answer your questions.

My counseling approach is holistic and utilizes evidence based therapies and tools integrated according to the individual needs of my clients. For administration and clients I see via Telehealth, I use Simple Practice, a HIPAA approved platform to assure confidentiality.

Testimonials

“When I started therapy, I was of the firm belief that not only was the past not affecting who I am today, there was certainly no reason to ever discuss it because it couldn’t be changed.

I could not have been more wrong. My distrust and fear made me a person I didn’t want to be, and my perceptions of the role I played were certainly changed. One of the best decisions I ever made was seeing Maura through the entire process. She told me to keep this short otherwise I would go on forever.

Love yourself enough to sit and talk with her.”

— Bill G

Maura is kind, warm, welcoming and full of extraordinary insights informed not only by her formal education, but more importantly by the diversity of her life’s experiences.

As I have navigated many of life’s challenges including the loss of my husband, Maura has provided insight and coping mechanisms that have been invaluable.”

— Sue P

Deciding to work with Maura was one of the best decisions of my life. She was able to quickly understand my challenges and helped me find my way forward with a thoughtful and heartfelt approach.

Maura’s life and business experience led me to create better boundaries in my personal and professional life. This, along with her sense of humor fostered an environment that made my journey feel less overwhelming and safe.

Thanks to Maura I now have more joy and ease in my life.

“Maura has helped me deal with the grief of losing a loved one, severe anxiety, and PTSD. Although she gives me credit for the work I’ve done, I wouldn’t be here without her tailored approach to my situation.

She understands that a treatment plan isn’t one-size fits all, and she worked with me and my beliefs to make sure I was comfortable with every aspect of my treatment plan.”
